Jaabir ibn Mut’im (رضي الله عنه) said, “Once, when a woman went to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه), he (صلى الله عليه) ordered her to come back to him at a later time. She (رضي الله عنها) said, “Suppose that I come and do not find you.” It was as if she was hinting to Prophet’s death. He (صلى الله عليه) replied:

إن لم تجديني فأتي أبا بكر

“If you do not find me, then go to Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه)”

Bukhari

Ibn Hajar said: “This hadeeth refutes the Shi’ites, who claim that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه) apponted ‘Ali and ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) to rule over the Muslim nation after his death.”
